Fresh Herbs and Buttermilk Dip
Buttermilk has a slightly tangy taste and it works great as a dip, especially combined with lots of fresh aromatic herbs, served with vegetable sticks or on roasted potatoes and meat.
Ingredients:
6 oz sour cream
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
2 tablespoons fresh chopped dill
1 teaspoon fresh chopped thyme
1 teaspoon fresh chopped basil
1 garlic clove, minced salt, pepper
Directions: Put the sour cream in a bowl and stir in the buttermilk. When smooth and creamy, add the fresh chopped herbs and the garlic then adjust the taste with a pinch of freshly ground pepper and salt. Pour in a bowl and serve. Enjoy!
Dijon Mustard Honey Dip
This recipe is probably one of the easiest dips, but it is delicious and works great with roasted meat and vegetables, enhancing their flavors.
Ingredients:
2/3 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon honey salt, pepper
Directions: Simply mix all the ingredients in a bowl and add salt and pepper according to your taste.
Taco Dip
Having some strong flavors, this dip is perfect for parties and family gathering, served with crackers or tortilla chips.
Ingredients:
1 cup canned white beans
1 ripe avocado, peeled and cubed
1 tablespoon taco seasoning
1/4 cup sour cream
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 cup Monterey Jack cheese, grated
1 tomato, peeled, deseeded and diced
2 green onions, finely chopped
1 cup black olives, chopped salt, pepper
Directions: Put the beans in a blender and pulse until smooth. Add the avocado and taco seasoning and blend a few more seconds. Transfer into a bowl and add the sour cream, mayonnaise, and cheese. Stir in the cubed tomato, green onions, and black olives. Add salt and pepper if needed and serve with nachos or tortilla chips.
Sweet and Sour Chili Sauce
This sauce will definitely add some heat to any dish. It is spicy, but sweet and works great with steaks.
Ingredients:
3 red peppers
5 red chilies
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 teaspoons rice vinegar juice and zest from
1 lemon salt 1 pinch of nutmeg
Directions: Finely chop the peppers and chilies and put them into a saucepan. Add the sugar, lemon juice and zest, the nutmeg and a pinch of salt and leave to marinate for 1 hour. Put the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Cook for 30 minutes then stir in the vinegar and cook 10 more minutes. Store the sauce in jars in the fridge.
Feta and Lemon Dip
Lemony and fragrant, this dip is great on toasted bread or simply served with crackers. It is salty and creamy and delicious, especially if you like this kind of cheese.
Ingredients:
8 oz feta cheese, crumbled
4 oz sour cream
1 tablespoon chives
juice and zest from 1/2 lemon
freshly ground pepper
Directions: Put the feta cheese and sour cream in a bowl then using a hand mixer blend the cheese until smooth. Stir in the chives, lemon juice, and zest and add a pinch of freshly ground pepper. Enjoy!
